I have had headaches since childhood…….I have had MRI’s, CT scans, and even seen a neurologist, and my headaches were still there………I had one every day and an unbearable one once a week…….I had one treatment with Dr. Alter (which didn't even hurt) and I was pain free…..It’s now one month into treatment and I have only had one minor headache!!! THANKS DR. ALTER YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER….

My daughter Katherine Peraza is 14 years old. She developed severe migraines a year ago. She was taken to the neurologist. An  MRI was performed which resulted normal.   She has been taking medications but nothing seemed to help. It has been a very frustrating year. She has missed important events and uncountable days of school do to the severity of her symptoms that accompany her migraines. She has had migraines up to twice a week.
I felt hopeless.  Until a month ago while watching the news, I saw a story about a procedure called Orthogonal Chiropractic. It stated that it was giving relief to people who suffer from migraines for many years and nothing seemed to help them. I called the office and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Ryan Alter even though his practice is in Delray Beach, FL. and we live in Hialeah, FL. It takes me two hours to and from. The story in the news motivated and inspired me
to drive 110 miles. I found out that he is one of 250 doctors nationwide performing this procedure. Two days later right after her last migraine we met Dr. Alter. After a thorough evaluation of my daughter’s health history and symptoms he explained to us the vital role the atlas plays in the health of the entire body.  Then he examined her neck to determine whether or not there were any abnormalities.  He then proceeded to do some x-rays. On July 21 the first and only adjustment was made. So far four weeks have passed and my daughter has been migraine free for the first time in an entire year.
We feel very optimistic. The results are there to prove it. There has been an enormous and satisfactory improvement in only one month. Dr. Alter is monitoring her progress weekly to make sure the Atlas holds in its proper position.
It has been an exciting, interesting and incredible experience. Katherine’s quality of life has changed dramatically. Is amazing how this gentle and effective procedure called the Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic Technique can be so effective in treating migraines.
We are looking forward to a Free Migraine 2007-2008 school year.
Thank you Dr. Alter, in such a short time of treatment Katherine’s migraines have improved significantly.   My family and I are deeply thankful.  Also a special thanks to Dr. Alters’ staff.

Sincerely,

-Niuris Peraza

I am a mother of 3 children - and have been a Florida Licensed Registered Nurse for over 13 years. I am used to the Western medical model of “taking a pill” to get better… but when it came to my 10 year old son I was very hesitant to practice what I preach.
My son had been having headaches for a period of time so we went to our Primary Doctor for an evaluation. My son was referred to the Pediatric Neurologist where he had the MRI and MRA as well as the Neurological evaluation- which all came back within normal limits. So my sons pediatrician, as well as the pediatric neurologist, now wanted my son to take a few medications to control his recurrent migraines- I said- “This is crazy.”
His usual regime in the beginning had been taking 2-4 Advil’s along with a Mountain Dew until he was neurologically cleared. Then he started to have migraines more often, up to 3-4 times per week- and the Pediatric Neurologist wanted him to take a medication at night to induce sleep- and then another narcotic based medication for when he had pain during the day….I can’t remember the names as I never used them or got the prescriptions filled since I felt so uncomfortable with the though of  “knocking my son out for sleep and then giving him a narcotic for migraine pain”. Heck- he’s only ten years old! So after talking to my husband – he agreed that this was not the way to go. So we went back to the pediatrician who recommended a Beta Blocker at a low dose. This is an adult high blood pressure medication that has an off-label use to treat migraines. I was slightly hesitant to do this- but his migraines were very frequent and I was frustrated with him not getting the relief he should have- so my husband and I said we would try it. He took only 10 milligrams of this medicine-and within one hour he felt dizzy and lightheaded- so I took his vital signs as a reasonable and prudent nurse would do when a patient complained of not feeling well with a new medicine. His blood pressure was very low- 74/38 and his heart rate was 42. He also complained of feeling that one half of his body felt very heavy and that he felt like he had to drag it to get it to move.  So I called the pediatrician- and it took 2 days for a call back, and I was told that the heavy feeling was not a side effect of the medicine but that we would decrease his dose to 5 milligrams due to his low heart rate and blood pressure. We went forward with this last ditch medication regime but I was on edge every day wondering if my son would pass out in class due to his low blood pressure - and worried that he might even get a head injury if he fell. We did this new medicine for about 2 weeks and everyday was a “I'm a little dizzy”  event.
At my wits end- and feeling let down by the medical profession, I went home and sat in my room listening to the news- wondering what else could be done. Then I overheard the health related news about migraine relief and Orthogonal Chiropractics. My ears perked up- and I thought- you’ve got to be kidding me- what would the chance of me being here at this time for this news information?!?!?!?! So I said “let’s see what this is about.”  I watched the segment and then I went on the internet to research it a bit more. Then I made the phone call to get an appointment- as I thought- this can only help!
On our first visit to his office- which required a 1 hour drive, I told him right off the bat – “I drove a long way for this- so this better be worth the trip!” He was wonderful- he was “kid-friendly” and knowledgeable. He took his time - not the usual rushed visit you get from your standard MD. We did not get a treatment that day- we had to come back in one week. So one week later we came back. We reviewed his findings- and again he was not rushing me in anyway- even with all my questions- and then my son got his first adjustment.
Well that was 6 weeks ago- and so far I am a believer! My son’s migraines had significantly decreased within the first week… enough to where I stopped his Beta Blocker to see if it was the medication or the adjustments. (Also- ironically at this same time he was seen by an orthopedist and was diagnosed with Osgood Schlatters- an avulsion fracture of the tibia - Dr. Alter ‘fixed’ this on one of our visits as well- and my son was as good as new- so much for the 3 weeks in a knee immobilizer that the orthopedist recommended!! He even went snow boarding on our vacation which he was supposed to be wearing his knee immobilizer on! To me this was icing on the proverbial cake!!)). He was without migraines for the next week and then we went away on a 10 day vacation over schools winter break and the headaches came back (but the knee was great- and when he was migraine fee- it was a good vacation day.) . He had 4-5 migraines over our 14 day school winter break vacation- but he has not been seen by Dr. Alter to have his bi-weekly evaluation with an adjustment if necessary.) Since we have been back for 3 weeks, and my son is now “Atlas Adjusted”, he has only had one very small and very short lived headache- and it went away even before I could medicate him with Advil! I could not be happier with the outcome for my son. I feel I have spared him kidney and liver damage from that repeated use of Tylenol/Advil, as well as we were able to avoid using much more unnecessary heavier medications. I feel like I made the right choice. What a fluke for me to be watching TV that night- and to have that segment come on just when I was questioning how to make my son better. Coincidence or fate- what ever you want to call it- I am just happy that Dr. Alter was the light at the end of this long medical tunnel for my son. We still have more treatments to go- don’t get me wrong….and I intend to keep going to get that Atlas as stable as it can be and keep my son migraine free. Maybe soon we’ll be only have a once per month maintenance visit….but so far it is such a joy to see my son happy and playing as opposed to holding his head ( and knee!) saying how much pain he is having has been worth every penny in gas, every minute of the drive, and every dollar for the visits. So my sincere thanks to you Dr. Alter for giving me back my happy-go-lucky son!

Warmest Regards-
-Leslie Menghi-Parzygnat and my son Larry Parzygnat III

My name is Maxine Schweppe.  I am a 63 year old retired registered nurse.  Last year, I became progressively so ill that complications brought me close to dying.  Actually I was so ill and in so much pain and increasingly debilitated that I begged my husband to allow me to die.  Dr John Battilana MD, an anesthesiologist, referred my husband and I to Dr Ryan Alter, an atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic Specialist.  If not for them, I would not be able to write this testimonial.

My husband suffered with me.  I became ill in May with what I called “fuzzy headaches” and symptoms that became progressively worse and sent me to the hospital a total of six times, two to the ER and four to the hospital admissions over a period of six months.

I started to have dizzy spells, then chess pains, then numbness, and tingling in both of my arms.  This was followed by pain and pressure in my right ear and right side of my head.  I also had many different noises in right ear followed by neck and back pain.  As these progressed, my pain started to become unbearable.  I felt as if my head was being pushed down into my neck and shoulders.  My dizziness and vertigo eventually caused me to be bed ridden.  During all this, I saw my family doctor and neurologist, an arthritis specialist, and an ear, nose, and throat specialist.  My husband and I went to the Cleveland clinic and saw another ear, nose and throat specialist.  I had multiple CAT scans, MRI’s of my head and neck and ear test.  I was diagnosed with severe neck arthritis.  (Later to find out, yes, I had arthritis, but it was not that severe.)

The ear, nose and throat specialist at the Cleveland Clinic attempted to push symptoms on me that I did not have to diagnose migraine headaches.  With increasing medications (narcotics, anti-inflamitories, muscle relaxants, etc) and diagnosis, my husband and I became frustrated and desperate.  My husband scanned the Internet.  He placed in search terms neck arthritis and my accompanying symptoms.  He found the Mayo Clinic site and discovered the diagnosis of occipital neuralgia.  We went with the print out to the arthritis and ear specialist.  They both agreed we were on the right track.  I was sent to a special neurologist (headache specialist).  He placed me on MORE medications and my condition worsened.  He sent me to Dr Battalana.  He did inter-vertebral injections to lessen the pain.  I continued to worsen and returned to the neurologist, who was unable to help me.  I almost passed out in his office and went directly to the ER and was hospitalized.  Dr Battalana called the hospital to speak to my husband.  He referred me to Dr Alter.

He stated that Dr Alter had helped him and maybe could help me.  As soon as I was released from the hospital, we drove an hour and a half to Dr. Alter’s.  He did specialized x-rays that showed my head was not correctly on my spine.  It was to the left and forward.  He studied the x-rays and had us return.  When I returned, he placed specific numbers in his machine.  I lay on my right side, and felt a gentle tap on my neck.  I began to feel some lessening of my symptoms, but due to months of being ill, on multiple medications and unable to get out of bed.  I was hospitalized with pneumonia, a urinary track infection, and with a 104 degree temperature.  A combination that is often deadly in a senior citizen.  Once I was able, my husband and I returned to Dr Alter.  My neck was still in alignment, but due to the length of my illness, all the complications from medications, it took time for the procedure to completely work.  My symptoms gradually receded and I was able to withdraw from almost all medications.  As I felt better, my husband was able to track my problem back to a minor fall in May where I hit the right side of my head.  We are finding those activities that caused my neck to go out of alignment and when symptoms start to reoccur.  When this happens, Dr Alter repeats this very gentle procedure and my symptoms quickly recede.

We thank God that He has led us to Dr Alter.  Driving an hour and a half from home is such a small price to pay.  My husband says he has his wife back again.

P. S.  We convinced my adult son to see Dr Alter.  He has had decades of headaches and neck problems.  He has had seen different doctors, has had several procedures and physical therapy without lasting effect.  Dr Alter found he was out of alignment (though not as severe as me).  My son has had such relief, it is amazing!  He has had no problem staying in alignment.  He too feels blessed to have found this atlas orthogonal chiropractor!!!!

I was referred to Dr. Ryan Alter by Dr. Lawrence Arbeitman of Upper Cervical Chiropractic of Monmouth of New Jersey. I was in a severe car accident in March of 2006. Since that time I have been treated by two chiropractors, two orthopedics and countless physical therapists. I have also gone through multiple epidural injections that did not help. I go to a gym on a regular basis and practice core exercises.

After all of the above; I still continue to have pain running down the back of my left leg. I can not stand for any length of time without pain and the need to sit for relief. I could not walk for more than fifteen minutes.

I started with Dr. Alter twice a week on Jan. 11, 2008. I am no longer in intense pain. I can walk for forty five minutes. I am almost pain free and walk straight for the first time in almost two years. His treatment is absolutely painless and has been as successful as I could hope for. Dr. Alter and his staff are great. They have a scientific and technical approach with expected results and a healing process that I have witnessed.

Dr. Alter spends the necessary time with each patient explaining his methods and the expected results. He takes the time for one to understand the approach.

I am very grateful to him and his staff for the relief of pain he has brought me.

Thank You Again and Again..

-Sylvia Gentner

-Kimberly van Scriver, M.D. OB/GYN
During 40 years of suffering from chronic neck problems, I seen numerous medical doctors, physical therapists, and chiropractors without appreciable improvement ……after Dr. Ryan’s first treatment, my neck pain was significantly reduced..and after several follow up treatments, the pain was completely gone and my neck flexibility exceeded that of most people……. Dr. Ryan is the most competent chiropractor I have ever been treated by and without reservation I would strongly recommend his services!

My name is Analucia Toral, I am a Kindergarten/First grade teacher. For the past 3 years I have been through a mother’s worse fear… that of seeing your child go through pain and sickness on a continuous basis. When I say continuous basis, I mean visiting the doctor every week, medications and monthly visits to the pulmonologist. So you may have a better idea of what I am talking about, let me tell you a little about my daughter. Cailyn is my beautiful and lively 5 year old daughter. She was diagnosed with Asthma when she was about 2 ½ years old. At that time we went to a Pulmonologist which prescribed albuterol; we had to administrate the medication through a chamber. If you are a mother you can completely understand how difficult it might have been to try to place a weird contraption onto a two-year old’s face. I will not lie, it was a daily battle to get her to sit down and breathe the medication, but I did what I was told to do for “Cailyn’s sake”.  Cailyn’s third birthday came and went, yet her condition did not improve, in fact, it deteriorated to the point that if  she ran or laughed too strenuously, she would throw up! I tried putting her into gymnastics which she loved so much, but even the warm up caused her to have an attack. I recall one afternoon Cailyn was at gymnastics and she was warming up, she was jumping, i guess it was too much for her little lungs to handle, so she threw up in the middle of the gym! A parent behind me said, "I don't understand why parents bring their children when they are sick!" I could not help but to react and tell her that my baby had asthma, yet it was still too hard for that individual to understand. So my poor baby had to be taken away from one of her favorite activities in the world, not to mention running around and playing with other children like a normal girl her age. I was desperate at this point…I thought… How would my daughter ever have a normal childhood? So, yet again I went back to the pulmonologist (by this time Cailyn was close to being 4 years old). The doctor had me order a nebulizer, prescribed Advair, Pulmicort, and Singulair, all these were her maintenance medications, if she had a cold and her asthma turned bad, she would have to take even more medications! I was desperate and did not know what to do I would have tried anything and everything to help my baby feel better... Until one day I met the man who would change both my daughter's and my life! His name is Dr. Ryan Alter and he is a doctor in chiropractic with a specialization in Atlas Orthogonal. A chiropractor? you must be thinking... what in the world could a chiropractor do? Well, in September, 2007 I took Cailyn to Dr. Alter's office, there he took x-rays and after analyzing them, my baby got "adjusted!" Dr. Alter did no manipulation, which means... no cracking or squeezing or anything of that sort, all he did was use an Atlas Orthogonal table to adjust Cailyn's atlas. It has been 4 months since the first time Cailyn got adjusted and she is off steroid treatments, and rarely sees a nebulizer! I must say that there is a cure to childhood asthma and I am thankful that I met Dr. Alter, he made it possible for Cailyn to lead a normal childhood; She can now jump, run, laugh, swim, the list is endless! For those parents thinking that there is no hope, let me tell you there is a light at the end of the tunnel all you have to do is find it and follow it,  that light was Dr. Ryan Alter and Atlas Orthogonal...

-Analucia Toral and Cailyn

As a young child, I would often experience the wrath of debilitating migraine headaches. My headaches would always start out as a slight pain over my right eye and gradually escalate to a full blown migraine that often included severe vomiting. Even the slightest noise or glimpse of light would make everything worse. Some migraines would last all night and I would sometimes have to miss school the next day.

As a young child, my parents and I never fully understood what was going on. I was taken to the emergency room twice due to dehydration from the severe vomiting associated with my headaches. The next day all my symptoms would disappear and the doctors were not able to attach an explanation to the situation. When I was seven, my parents and I went to see a neurologist. Since I was so young, he was concerned about the side effects associated with the prescription medication for migraines. He recommended Tylenol or Aspirin for the head pain and that I get to sleep as soon as possible.

By the time I entered my last years of high school I began to suffer more and more from my migraines. They would occur at least once a month. My mother began to worry about my headaches. She took me to a physician who ordered an MRI, but nothing was found. Frustration began to take over. I was tired of suffering without a cure. That’s when we heard about Dr. Alter and his miracle machine from WPTV News Channel 5. Skeptical at first, we decided to drive down to Delray for a consultation.

Our first meeting with Dr. Alter was very comforting. We were first greeted by his lovely staff. Shortly after, we met with Dr. Alter. He was very informative and positively optimistic. I was extremely pleased with all the information he provided us with. He took x-rays in his office and a couple of days later I went in for my first adjustment. The procedure was painless. All I had to do was lie on my side while he adjusted the table and delivered a tiny tap on my neck. I didn’t feel any pain. When he was finished I rested on the table for a couple minutes and I could already feel the difference. The nerves down my neck and back felt warm and comfortable.

Before this procedure, I never knew what a regular headache felt like. Before meeting with Dr. Alter the only headaches I ever had were migraines. Now, I occasionally get tiny, normal stress headaches. These are nothing compared to my previous encounters with migraines. I can continue on in life with these and sometimes a walk around the neighborhood or a Motrin will take away the minute pain.

Since my first adjustment (about five months ago) I have only had two migraine headaches. However the migraine headaches I experienced were unbelievably different than all the others of my past. These two headaches came on quickly and within half an hour I was asleep. I slept fine the rest of that night and I didn’t miss a thing the next day in school.

I have experienced such a great improvement in my life since I started seeing Dr. Alter. I don’t even mind the hour and fifteen minute drive from Port St. Lucie to Delray. He knows what to do, and I am truly thankful.

Respectfully,

-Cindy Silva

I came to be treated by Dr. Ryan Alter for severe vertigo from Meniere's disease that has afflicted me since May of 2001... The principles of Atlas Orthogonal were explained in depth to me by Dr. Alter and I agreed to go through the protocol....  As the "son of a mechanic", it made sense to me that if my head tilted 11 degrees towards the right (the side of my head affected by Meniere's, that this may provide some nerve relief..  I am very pleased to tell you that after about 2 1/2 weeks, my vertigo symptoms showed improvement to the point that I have been able to play games with my three youngest children, attend family functions, be around loud noises, etc.   These might seem like simple things that one might not understand unless you lose them...   I am, and will always, very grateful for Dr. Alter being able to be the only doctor able to improve my quality of life.   I hope my story will give others the hope to "never" give up.

Thank you, Dr. Alter, for sharing your specialized training in upper cervical with me.

Sincerely,

After many years of chronic neck pain I have finally found relief thanks to you, Dr. Alter.

While surfing the net in search of help for my neck pain, I came upon your web page. My interest was immediately peaked.   I have never been to a Chiropractor but I was sure that I did not believe in their methods.  But after reviewing your technique using Atlas Orthogonality and reviewing the recent local news reports I have to admit, I was very interested.  This was something new and seemed very different from anything I had ever heard about.  I made an appointment and hoped for the best.

The best is what I got. My treatment began and I have to say with all honesty, that I did not feel better immediately.  I guess I was hoping that would be the case as I know it is for some people.  It was around my 4th visit that I actually began to feel a major difference in the range of motion of my neck and the reduction of pain.   As you explained, it might take a few more visits to correct my problems as I had been this way for many years and not to be discouraged.  You were right!  I can only say that I do feel better and I know that you, Dr. Alter, are the reason.  You always took the time to answer any questions and/or concerns that I may have had and you always made me feel comfortable in the process. Your Wellness Class was also so informative and has given me new tools to use in my everyday life.

Thanks again.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Dr. Alter always found time to answer my questions about why I was having a physical problem, and how to handle it. He was an excellent resource for understanding the simple mechanics of how o sleep, move, and sit in positions that help keep my body in shape and prevent setbacks.

-Diane Lamoureux

After a serious car accident years ago that gave me whip lash and a painful shoulder injury, I had been experiencing head aches and neck spasm with increasing intensity and frequency over the last 10 years.

As a traveling Entertainer, I have visited many Doctors, Chiropractors and Physiotherapists all over the world including in Australia, France, Tahiti, Germany, Holland and now America. Most of them gave up on me after a few months of treatment. They got sick of treating my ailments and not seeing any results. I continued to lose faith and give up hope that I would ever get any relief.

Sometimes I would be on the floor unable to move with tears streaming down my face for up to three days at a time. After the spasm would finally cease, I would be left with an unbearable headache for days or weeks. Sometimes I would go months with a continual dull ache and pain radiating from the back of my neck and into my forehead.

However, this year, I have finally found some relief. After meeting Doctor Alter and hearing about this new way of treating people without all the painful cracking and adjusting that other chiros do, I decided to give it a try.

Dr. Alter took many detailed X-rays of my neck and spine, something that other Physicians neglected to do, and carefully designed a program to “put me right”.
I have now been headache free for months, my spine has stayed in alignment and my neck pain has been greatly reduced to a fraction of what it was. I have not had a spasm or a migraine in months either.
I am very happy with the care that Dr. Alter is giving me, and am relieved that I can sing and perform again without the help of pain killers.

I would gladly recommend this type of treatment to others.

Thank you so much for not giving up on me

Love and hugs

Dear Dr. Alter,

When first told about your type of chiropractic medicine I laughed and said it could not be so. I was resigned to the fact that my lower back pain was here to stay and that I would have to live with it as well as hip pain although it was detected that I have no bone loss or abnormalities in either hip.
Now after several visits I am relatively pain free and can detect when my head has slipped off the atlas and needs adjusting...My hips also have little to no pain.  I am relieved to know that there is some one who can free me of pain for a time and that relief is only a visit away.  I am confident that the visits will be farther apart as time goes on.
Thank you Dr. Alter.

Gratefully yours,
-Ellen Liebman

What do I think of Dr. Alter? One word comes to mind…genuine. He truly cares about his patients, I know, I was one of his patients. He will go to all lengths to find the problem and work with you to get better! I have never felt like a number in the systems… get you in and get you out, he listens, observes, and he is empathetic. I would not have made it in my job as a massage therapist without chiropractic care and the caring support of a great doctor.

Dr. Alter made me feel like I was part of my “health team”. As a team player he always expressed his concerned for me and never limited himself to just guessing at what might be the problem but used his medical knowledge, wisdom and common sense to calculate and resolve my health issues. He was always courteous, cordial, and never made me feel ignorant or out of place. The only time he disappointed me was the day he informed me he was moving to another city. I will miss my chiropractor.

It was about twenty years ago that I had a skiing accident on the slopes of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I fell on my head and shoulders and every since that day I had head, neck and shoulder pain.  This started a twenty year long quest to stop my pain.  I tried many different chiropractors and body workers and I must admit that they helped, but Rolfing is the one therapy that gave me the most relief.  But nothing really stopped or cured my neck, shoulder or head pain.

I was watching the local news and saw a report on Dr. Alter and his Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic technique. I immediately made any appointment for an evaluation .  After my first treatment  I was amazed that I had no more pain anywhere.  I was also amazed that I held this adjustment. I did have some soreness on my right side but NO PAIN anywhere.  I continue to see Dr. Alter but so far I am holding my alignment and continue to experience a life without neck, shoulder or head PAIN.

Regards,

Dr. Alter treated both myself and my daughter in a caring gentle manner. He was an integral part in my healing following a motor vehicle accident.

-Kimberly van Scriver, M.D. OB/GYN

It gives me great pleasure to recommend Dr. Alter. I was 43 years old and pregnant with my third child when I was first seen as a patient. He has treated me for over a year now and has helped me in many ways. He listened to my concerns and gave me sound advice when needed. I appreciated his honesty, and undivided attention. I never felt rushed.

Dr. Alter has also treated my three girls ages 6, 2, and 1. They tell me their neck hurts just to see the doctor. He is a very caring man and where ever he practices he will be a great asset.
